  1. 1. A geometric approach to calculating the limit set of eigenvalues for banded Toeplitz matrices

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Matematik LTH

    Författare :Teodor Bucht; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Toeplitz matrices; Banded Toeplitz matrices; Limit set; Eigenvalues; Mathematics and Statistics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is about the limiting eigenvalue distribution of n × n Toeplitz matrices as n → ∞. The two classical questions we want to answer are: what is the limit set of the eigenvalues, and what is the limiting distribution of the eigenvalues. Our main result is a new approach to calculate the limit set Λ(b) for a Laurent polynomial b, i.e. LÄS MER

  2. 2. How to Rise from Ashes : A Comprehensive Guide to Finally Understand Canonical Quantization and Build Quantum Mechanics from Scratch

    L3-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Materialteori; Uppsala universitet/Avdelningen för teoretisk filosofi

    Författare :Karl Herlin; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Quantum mechanics; History of quantum mechanics; Canonical Quantization; double-slit experiment; The Photoelectric Effect; Compton Scattering; Matter Waves; Bohr’s Atomic Model; Old Quantum Theory; Heisenberg-Born-Jordan Matrix Mechanics; Schrodinger’s Quantum Wave Mechanics; equations of motion;

    Sammanfattning : In this review essay, we account for the historical development of canonical quantization. By a detailed review of The Ultraviolet Catastrophe, The Photoelectric Effect, Compton Scattering, Matter Waves and Bohr's Atomic Model we learn about Old Quantum Theory. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Dynamics at an exceptional point in an interacting quantum dot system

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :William Samuelson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : A fundamental postulate of quantum mechanics is that the Hamiltonian of a closed system is Hermitian, guaranteeing real-valued energies and conserved probabilities throughout the evolution of the system. However, for quantum systems where there is dissipation and crosstalk with the environment, such as a system of quantum dots connected to an environment of metallic leads, the dynamics of the system is instead generated by a non-Hermitian Liouvillian superoperator. 4. 4. Dynamics for the special class of quantum master equations

    Master-uppsats, Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för matematik (MA)

    Författare :Locatelli Pietro; [2022]
    Nyckelord :superoperators; density matrices; von Neumann entropy; camel-like entropy; steady states; open quantum systems; dynamical semigroups; decoherence free subspaces;

    Sammanfattning : The paper is an analysis of a special class of the master equations such that the Dissipation superoperator is L(ρ) = [M, [M, ρ]], where M is an hermitian andunitary operator and ρ a density matrix. It mainly investigates the dynamics ofρ and its properties such as boundness of the operators of the master equation,the eigenvalues of these operators, the purity of the states, the steady states. 5. 5. A unified view of a family of soliton equations related to spin Calogero-Moser systems

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Fysik

    Författare :Anton Ottosson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Soliton equations; Solitons; Integrable systems; Spin Calogero-Moser systems; Exact solutions; Benjamin-Ono-type equations; Solitonekvationer; Solitoner; Integrerbara system; sCM-system; Exakta lösningar; Ekvationer av Benjamin-Ono-typ;

    Sammanfattning : We study the interconnections between the spin Benjamin-Ono (sBO) and half-wave maps (HWM) equations, a pair of nonlinear partial integro-differential equations that have recently been found to permit multi-soliton solutions, where the time evolution of the constituent solitons can be described in terms of the well-known, completely integrable, spin Calogero-Moser (sCM) system. By considering a symmetry transformation of the sCM dynamics we are led to introduce a scale parameter into the sBO equation, yielding what we call the rescaled sBO (rsBO) equation, which has both the sBO and HWM equations as special cases.
