    Sammanfattning : This essay examines the way in which the traditional form and concept of the muqaddima, as developed in the arabic tradition, is employed by lebanese marxist scholar Husayn Mroueh (1910-1987) in his work on the arabic-islamic heritage, al-naza̔āt al-mādiyya fī al-falsafa al-̔arabiyya al-islāmiyya. The theoretical framework for the study is provided by Peter Freimarks study Das Vorwort als literarische Form in der arabischen Literatur, which examines the development of the muqaddima-form in the classical arabic era.
