Theory: For reaching this aim, theoretical approaches regarding pro-environmental actions are considered, and thus the corresponding educational framework of Action Competence is embedded as a central theoretical component, to plan, implement and evaluate an ESD program. 3. Translating Vision into Action : A Design Toolkit for Facilitating Place Visioning Workshops in Placemaking

By integrating the place visioning pathway into the participatory backcasting framework, the proposed adapted framework for place visioning consists of four activities: (1) Orientation - Define the current challenge of the place, (2) Visioning - Develop a future vision, (3) Backcasting - Propose actions to actualise the vision, and (4) Elaboration - Choose feasible actions to create an action plan. Drawing from the theoretical frameworks of intersectionality and decoloniality and with a focus on the experience of the asylum interview, the research seeks to explore the ways that those epistemological paradigms intertwine with participatory research to deconstruct the dichotomy between researcher and research subject (expert/community) and re-balance the power differentials embedded within academia, canonical knowledge production and traditional research methodologies, to initiate change.
