    Sammanfattning : In contrast with most studies analyzing urban forced displacement in Uganda, this study moves beyond the capital Kampala to explore urban refugeehood issues in one of the country’s secondary cities. The case study investigates how a community of self-settled South Sudanese refugees living in the northern Ugandan city of Arua copes with the challenges of self-settlement, self-reliance and recognition.     Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the tension between humanitarianism and nationalism byfocusing on the Sahrawi and Palestinian refugee cases. These cases represent a challengeto both nationalism, which presupposes national identity as being congruent with theestablished political borders and rooted within their limits, and the claim of neutrality, asnot favoring any side in an armed conflict or dispute and bearing no national allegiance.     Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the experiences of self-identified gay Syrian men in Lebanon, all of whom have either registered or have expressed a desire to register with the UNHCR. The empirical data, which was collected through semi-structured interviews with five men during the autumn of 2014 in Beirut, questions what it means to be simultaneously gay, Syrian, and a refugee in Lebanon in the current climate.
