1. Prospects for a Free Electron Laser at the FemtoMAX Beamline
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : A Free Electron Laser (FEL), is a device that generates extremely coherent and brilliant radiation using electrons accelerated to relativistic velocities in a particle accelerator. The process utilises similar equipment to what is used at a synchrotron source like MAX IV, but in addition there is an interaction between the relativistic electron beam and the generated radiation to achieve an exponential growth in radiation intensity. 2. Feasibility Study of X-ray Free Electron Lasers in Fourth Generation Storage Rings
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/MAX IV-laboratorietSammanfattning : This thesis studies the feasibility of a cavity based X-ray free electron laser in a fourth generation storage ring. The cavity design allows for modulation of the electron beam over several passes through the undulator. Simulations based on the PETRA IV facility are done to create the photon flux spectrum of a light pulse produced by an undulator. LÄS MER
3. Preparations for photon external beam radiotherapy treatment planning of small animals
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/SjukhusfysikerutbildningenSammanfattning : Introduction:The XenX is a small animal irradiation system that acquires high-resolution cone-beam tomography (CBCT) images of small animals and treats small animals with higher precision than medical linear accelerators. MuriSlice is a software for CBCT image reconstruction. LÄS MER
4. Material decomposition using a photon counting X-ray detector in low energy range
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/SjukhusfysikerutbildningenSammanfattning : Material decomposition in X-ray imaging is used to separate different materials or elements in an image and to quantify their respective concentration. The material decomposition and quantification are made possible by the dependency of attenuation on the attenuating material and photon energy. LÄS MER
5. Experimental characterization of focal ratio degradation of optical fibers due to various coupling technologies
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för materialvetenskapSammanfattning : The goal of this project was to develop a measuring method and software code to determine and compare the focal ratio degradation of optical fibers for two different coupling technologies. One of the couplings used a fusing technology to splice the fiber, and the other coupling used a refractive index matching technology. LÄS MER
