   Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to examine everyday meals, more specifically to study the context of meaningful dinner practices, the interpretation of these as rituals, the role of material objects, social norms and social company. Eight qualitative interviews were conducted with young adults between the ages of 22 and 32, and theory and literature within the fields of cultural studies, sociology and the concept of rituals was used to guide the analysis and interpretation of the interviews.    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to study the Capacocha, which is an Inca ritual where children were offered to their gods in the sacred places called Huacas (places of origin) and offered artefacts together with the children links to the Inca's sacred symbol, the Chakana, which in turn it is the life philosophy of the Inca culture. This thesis uses this philosophy to understand the phenomenon and the elements that define Huacas and the Capacocha ritual. LÄS MER

   Sammanfattning : Despite prayer being one of the most central tenets of Islam, this subject has drawn the attention of surprisingly little scholarship, especially when it comes to studying its origin against pre-Islamic analogues. Thus, this thesis proposes a reconstruction of the very early history of the fivefold daily Islamic liturgy, attempting also to weigh the extent of the influence that pre-Islamic religions, primarily Middle Eastern Christianity and Judaism, might have had in its development.    Sammanfattning : In this paper, I argue skateboarding to be a ritualizing performance that acts as a catalyst for transformative energies and heightened emotional states. Aided by the sensory experience of riding a board, powerful feelings of connectedness and unity arise amongst those who practice skateboarding, so intense that they transgress day-to-day social boundaries and temporarily overcome the socioeconomic segregation of ordinary urban life.
