  1. 6. Optimal foraging in an Arctic herbivore : How does the foraging behaviour of Svalbard reindeer (Rangifer tarandus platyrhynchus) respond to seasonal changes from summer through autumn of the Arctic tundra?

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Emma Limosa Djurberg; [2023]
    Nyckelord :foraging behaviour; phenology; ungulate; Arctic; Rangifer tarandus platyrhynchus;

    Sammanfattning : Foraging decisions of large herbivores can be affected by many factors and have great effect on both above- and below-ground ecosystems. Here, I determine to which degree temporal (seasonality), or spatial (habitat) factors influence the foraging behaviour of Svalbard reindeer (Rangifer tarandus platyrhynchus) and asses if small-scale foraging behaviour correlates with an animals’ patch residence time. 2. 7. Sporadic-E layers in the polar cap ionosphere : A review on Es occurrence, dynamics and formation theory

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Anton Thorell; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Sporadic-E layers; plasma physics; space physics; arctic geophysics; radar technology; UNIS; Svalbard; EISCAT.; Sporadiska E-skikt; plasmafysik; rymdfysik; arktisk geofysik; radarteknik; UNIS; Svalbard; EISCAT.;

    Sammanfattning : Sporadic-E layers (Es) are layers of metallic ions that appear in the lower E-region of the ionosphere and can last from under one hour to several hours. Es are found at all latitudes, but polar cap Es, and specifically over Svalbard at a latitude of around 78◦ , are the focus of this study. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Use of Management Accounting Under a Grant Administrated Project

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Graduate School

    Författare :Therese Brodin; Anne De Silva; [2022-06-30]
    Nyckelord :Management accounting; Grant administration; Project; Public budget response; Private organisation; Public organisation; Tourism; SME; Adaptation; Svalbard; Local Government Financial Grant;

    Sammanfattning : Background – Covid-19 pandemic has triggered responses for financial supports, governmental actions, and subsidies directed to specific industries in several countries inferring administration of projects under non-routine situations, including actors of various organisational structures. The aim of this thesis was to learn more about the use of management accounting under a new, non-usual situation from two interlinked levels, namely the societal and firm under a public grant administrated project context. 4. 9. Safeguarding a Safeguard: Assessing the Status of Global Ex-Situ Crop Conservation and the Svalbard Global Seed Vault’s Role in its Protection

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Ekonomisk-historiska institutionen

    Författare :Christopher Keegan; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Svalbard Global Seed Vault; Genebanks; Genetic Resources; Genetic Erosion; Passport Data Completeness; Agriculture and Food Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The Svalbard Seed Vault serves as a backup against accidental loss of genetic crop diversity within the existing global conservation system. Addressing this objective, this thesis repeats the 2013 assessment of the Seed Vault’s completeness relative to the global conservation system as performed by Westengen et al (2013, 1). LÄS MER

  5. 10. A Statistical Overview of the Spatial Atmospheric Variability Over Isfjorden, Svalbard

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Författare :Stenlund Agnes; [2022]
    Nyckelord :meteorologi; atmosfärsvetenskap; mikroklimat;

    Sammanfattning : The atmospheric spatial variability over Isfjorden, Svalbard, was investigated through statistical data analysis. The data used in the thesis was measured by mobile weather stations installed on three ships crossing the fjord, and two stationary weather stations close to the shoreline, during the autumn of 2021 and spring to autumn 2022.
