  1. 1. From Plant Genetic Resource Conservation to Digital Biorepositories: A Coming Paradigm Shift in Ex-Situ Conservation?

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Ekonomisk-historiska institutionen

    Författare :Christopher Keegan; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Bioinformatics; Genebanks; Genetic Engineering; Mixed-Methods; Multi-Disciplinary; Patent Analysis; Plant Genetic Resources; Synthetic Biology; Technological Trajectories; Business and Economics;

    Sammanfattning : Plant Genetic Resource Conservation has been a staple of agricultural development for the past century. Recently, several prominent papers have raised alarm surrounding the development of synthetic biology techniques and their potential to render modern practices and methods of conservation in the global genebank network obsolete. 2. 2. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Nyckelord :super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters. 3. 3. Messing With The Gap: On The Modality Gap Phenomenon In Multimodal Contrastive Representation Learning

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Industriell teknik

    Författare :Mohammad Al-Jaff; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Multimodal machine learning; Representation learning; Self-supervised learning; contrastive learning; computer vision; computational biology; bioinformatics;

    Sammanfattning : In machine learning, a sub-field of computer science, a two-tower architecture model is a specialised type of neural network model that encodes paired data from different modalities (like text and images, sound and video, or proteomics and gene expression profiles) into a shared latent representation space. However, when training these models using a specific contrastive loss function, known as the multimodalinfoNCE loss, seems to often lead to a unique geometric phenomenon known as the modality gap. 4. 4. Comprehensive Study on Aptamers and Aptamer-based Assays

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :Axel Truedson; Márta Sundström; Christoffer Eriksson; Andreas Bergfeldt; Matilda Jägare Lindvall; Caroline Normann; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Aptamer; Biotechnology; Detection method; Biosensor; Molecular recognition; Antibodies; Aptamerer; Bioteknik; Detektionsmetod; Biosensor; Molekylär igenkänning; Antikroppar;

    Sammanfattning : Antibodies are the gold standard molecular recognition elements and a cornerstone of molecular biology. They are used in immunoassays to precisely measure a specific analyte, but certain targets are especially challenging. Difficult targets include small molecules and molecules that do not induce an immune response. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Recombinant Expression of Novel Wild Type Oat Hemoglobins in Escherichia Coli

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Tillämpad biokemi; Lunds universitet/Beräkningskemi

    Författare :Frank Rummukainen; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Recombinant technology; Protein expression; Hemoglobin; Phytoglobin; Escherichia coli; Oat; Avena sativa; Heme; Iron; Biosynthesis; Transcription; qPCR; SDS-PAGE; Fermentation; Recombination; Applied Biochemistry; Biology and Life Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Hemoglobin is a protein transporting oxygen through our bloodstreams and is as such essential for aerobic life. Hemoglobins also exist in plants, with a wide variety of functions other than oxygen transport. LÄS MER
