  1. 1. Evaluation of Crack Depth Meter - An investigation of the crack depth meters possibilities and limitations for commonly occurring damage mechanisms

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållfasthetslära

    Författare :Alfred Norberg; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Crack depth measurement; RMG 4015; ACPD; Damage Mechanism; Evaluation; FEM Simulation; Sprickdjupsmätning; RMG 4015; ACPD; Skademekanism; Utvärdering; FEM-simulering;

    Sammanfattning : In this master thesis, the accuracy of the crack depth meter RMG 4015 was evaluated for different types of cracks with various damage mechanisms. In total, 61 crack depth measurements were conducted with the crack depth meter on 56 cracks which were located in the 23 different test pieces supplied by Kiwa. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Life and fracture in very high cycle fatigue of a high strength steel

    Master-uppsats, Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för ingenjörsvetenskap och fysik (from 2013)

    Författare :Daniel Karlsson; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Very high cycle fatigue; VHCF; Fractography; Fine granular area; FGA; High strength tool steel; Ultrasonic testing equipment;

    Sammanfattning : Classical fatigue models teach that there is an intrinsic fatigue limit for steels, representing a level of stress that is too low for regular crack growth where every cyclic load propagates a fatigue crack through the material. Modern application with extreme lifetimes has shown that fatigue will still take place in steels with stress levels well below the expected fatigue limit. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Evaluation of 25 MHz Ultrasonic Testing for Detection of Non-Metallic Inclusions in Steel

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Författare :Henrietta Isaksson; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Ultrasonic Testing; High Frequency Ultrasonic Testing; Quantification of inclusions; Fatigue Testing; Ultraljudstestning; Högfrekvent ultraljudstestning; Kvantifiering av inneslutningar; Utmattningstestning;

    Sammanfattning : Quantification of inclusions is important since it is correlated to the steel’s fatigue properties. One method that could be further developed for detection of inclusions in steel is ultrasonic testing (UST). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Development of a Method to Measure Residual Stresses in Cast Components with Complex Geometries

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Författare :Yang Yang; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Residual Stresses; Cast Iron; Engine Components; XRD; Ultrasonic; Cutting;

    Sammanfattning : Cast iron, taking the advantages of the advanced castability forming components of complex geometries and favorable mechanical properties, is employed in engine components in truck industries. Compacted graphite iron (CGI) integrates both merits of lamellar graphite iron (LGI) and spheroidal graphite iron (SGI) such as good machinability and high thermal conductivity from LGI, high ultimate tensile strength (UTS), good fatigue resistance, high elastic modulus, and high ductility from SGI, thus is now becoming a competitive alternative of traditional LGI in cylinder blocks and heads. 5. 5. Evaluation of quantification methods for inclusion distribution in clean steel

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Författare :Felicia Fröjd; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Large area scanning; high frequency ultrasonic testing; light optical evaluation; inclusion distribution;

    Sammanfattning : Ovako products are in many cases used in high fatigue applications. Currently Ovako use ultrasonic evaluation at 10 MHz as a volumetric method for inclusion control. This study intends to investigate two new methods for quantification of micro inclusions. LÄS MER
