   Sammanfattning : Development and how to reach economic growth have been discussed and talked about since the Industrial revolution in Europe pushed productivity and wages up but the models have changed over time and space. The most successful ones seems to build on traditional patterns of agriculture and growing domestic markets, but with a growing global market and new players on the world market can it be that the traditional patterns of development is changing and if so, how? This thesis aim at finding if and how developing patterns differs over time and space by looking at historical evidence as well as the new players on the world market, the developing giants China and India.
