  1. 1. Magnetic Mineralogy of Nb-bearing Carbonatites from Oldoinyo Dili (Tanzania)

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Julia Frejd; [2021]
    Nyckelord :carbonatites; niobium; rare earth elements; Oldoinyo Dili; magnetic properties; karbonatiter; niob; rare earth elements; Oldoinyo Dili; magnetiska egenskaper;

    Sammanfattning : Niobium (Nb) and Rare Earth Elements (REE’s) have in recent years received considerable attention because of their importance to the modern technical industry, and more specifically the enhanced sustainability that comes with them. The main source for Nb and REE’s on Earth are carbonatites and associated alkaline silicate rocks. LÄS MER

  2. 2. An Innovative In-Tunnel Seismic Study for Sustainably Extracting Apatite Ore at the Siilinjärvi Mine, Eastern Finland

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Anna Donczew; [2019]
    Nyckelord :in-tunnel seismic; reflection seismic; traveltime tomography; carbonatites; shear zones; Siilinjärvi; tunnelseismik; reflektionsseismik; restidstomografi; karbonatiter; skjuvzoner; Siilinjärvi;

    Sammanfattning : Siilinjärvi located in eastern Finland is presently the only phosphate mine with significant phosphorus production in western Europe. Phosphate rock and phosphorus are known as a critical raw material for the European Union due to their economic importance and being prone to the supply risks. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Mineral Constraints on the Source Lithologies at Fogo, Cape Verde.

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Elin Rydeblad; [2018]
    Nyckelord :olivine; clinopyroxene; carbonatite; Cape Verde; Eclogite; source lithologies;

    Sammanfattning : Variations in major, minor, and trace elements compositions and ratios, as well as isotope ratios are all useful tools in studying the composition of the Earth’s mantle, and heterogeneities present therein. Since the mantle itself doesn’t easily lend itself to study, ocean island basalt (OIBs) are commonly used as a proxy due to compositional differences combined with the range of origination depth, a combination that allows them to represent the heterogeneity of the mantle, sampling everything from the core mantle boundary to the old or recent additions of recycled oceanic crust. 4. 4. Alnö Carbonatite: A Future Moneymaker?

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Aklaqur Rahman; [2017]
    Nyckelord :The Alnö Complex; carbonates; rare earth elements; polarising microscope; Alnökomplexet; karbonatiter; sällsynta jordartsmetaller; mikroprob;

    Sammanfattning : Carbonatites are rare igneous rocks, which contain at least 50 %, carbonate minerals. They are often found along with alkaline silicate rocks, meaning that they contain relatively large amounts of Na2O and K2O, and important tools to understand mantle processes. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Study of opaque phases in carbonatites of the Grønnedal-Íka alkaline complex, Southwest Greenland

    Kandidat-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaper

    Författare :Eemu Ranta; [2015]
    Nyckelord :carbonatite; opaque phases; oxides; magnetite; hydrothermal fluids; Grønnedal-Íka; Greenland;

    Sammanfattning : Opaque phases from carbonatites of the Grønnedal-Íka alkaline complex (1299±17 Ma) of Southwest Greenland were analyzed in terms of their mineralogy and microstructure. The analysis demonstrates that a later intrusion by a 55 m wide dolerite dyke of unknown age has prompted the mineralization of magnetite by activating hydrothermal fluid convection. LÄS MER
