  1. 1. Metaller i Vombsjön - Mygglarver som bioindikator för miljöövervakning

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Centrum för miljö- och klimatvetenskap (CEC)

    Författare :Siri Bengtsson; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Bioindicators; Chironomidae; Freshwater source; Lake Vomb; Metal concentrations; Pollution; Sediment sampling; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigates concentrations of eight metals (Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb, Hg, Cr, Ni, As) in the freshwater resource Lake Vomb, located in the south of Sweden (Scania), and explores the potential use of deformed Chironomidae larvae as bioindicator. Sediment samples from six locations were analysed against threshold values from the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and background values from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. 2. 2. Salt tolerant horticultural plants to save freshwater usage

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Plant Protection Biology

    Författare :Tsun-Ya Chuang; [2024]
    Nyckelord :climate change; freshwater scarcity; halophyte; salt tolerance; bonsai;

    Sammanfattning : As freshwater becomes scarce worldwide due to climate change and population increases, there is an urgent need to develop innovative approaches to address the issue of reducing freshwater consumption. Selecting species with high ornamental value and salt tolerance for use as green hedges or bonsai in urban or coastal areas could be a strategic approach for promoting greening and maintaining water resource sustainability. 3. 3. ASSESSING MICROBIAL COMMUNITY RESPONSES IN A CHEMICALLY STRESSED FRESHWATER ECOSYSTEM USING ENVIRONMENTAL DNA

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskap

    Författare :Nicolai Laufer; [2023-06-21]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Microbial communities represent the fundamental cornerstones of riverine ecosystems because they are involved in numerous processes which mediate ecosystem services. However, riverine ecosystems are currently massively altered by a variety of anthropogenic activities which includes changes in landuse and chemical pollution. LÄS MER

  4. 4. A parasitic bivalve affects the interaction between a native and an invasive salmonid

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskap

    Författare :Brander Isac; [2023-04-18]
    Nyckelord :Glochidia larvae; Infestation class; General dominance behavior; Dominant subordinate; Strikes;

    Sammanfattning : The glochidia larvae of the freshwater pear mussel parasitize on juvenile brown trout during their maturation into tiny mussels. The parasitation has several negative impacts on the trout, one of the less studied being behavioral effects. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Development of osmo- and appetite regulation during transfer of smolt from freshwater to increasing salinities

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskap

    Författare :Jonna Hellesten; [2023-01-26]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) is common in Scandinavian aquaculture and must be transferred from freshwater to seawater to grow properly. Despite being assessed as ready smolts, meaning they have gone through the physiological changes to prepare for SW transfer, the transfer result in a mortality rate of around 13-19%, and significant appetite- and growth reductions.
