    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this Master’s thesis is to contribute to knowledge of what author-assigned keywords add to the indexing of Swedish dissertations in literature. This study had two research questions: 1) What types of keywords do the authors choose? 2) How do the author-assigned keywords compare to the cataloger-assigned subject headings from the controlled vocabulary Svenska Ämnesord (SAO) regarding types of terms, exhaustivity and specificity?     Sammanfattning : In this thesis called “Soon there was nowhere to go”, I investigate how relations between environments, landscapes and emotions are shaped in Birgitta Lillpers’ novel Om du fick tänka dig ett hem (If you could think of a home) (2010).     Sammanfattning : This thesis is a study of motherhood in Afhild Agrell’s play Räddad (first performed in 1882 at The Royal Theater in Stockholm) and Adda Ravnkilde posthumously published novel Judith Fürste (1884) with a focus on the relationship between mother and son. I study how the mothers wish to raise their sons, how mother and son interact with one another, the family dynamic’s influence on their motherhood and finally how they shape their identity as mothers when their motherhood is first threatened (often by their husbands) and then after the death of their sons.     Sammanfattning : The purpose of this essay is to show that what defines a hero is far more complicated than the prolific author and mythological expert Joseph Campbell would have one believe – in his view, heroic qualities stem from a certain type of chosen individual and reoccurring narrative motifs without taking social structures and masculinity into account. By analyzing the characters Beowulf and Odysseus through a filter, consisting of Campbells model of the “hero’s journey” along with perspectives provided by studies in the masculinity field done by Raewyn Connell and Jørgen Lorentzen together with Claes Ekenstam, this essay concludes, in short, the following: applying Campbells model of the hero does reveal several similarities between the two characters, though it ultimately fails to prove any deeper connection.
