  1. 1. Exploring the genetic cause of myotonic dystrophy in horses

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Breeding and Genetics

    Författare :Thomas Simon; [2023]
    Nyckelord :genetics; bioinformatics; myotonic dystrophy; horses; variant analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Myotonic Dystrophy (MD) is an inherited neuromuscular disorder that leads to a wide range of clinical signs including stiffness, abnormal muscle relaxation, and muscle atrophy or hypertrophy. Affected muscles develop a prolonged contracture in response to percussion of the muscle and show waxing and waning complex repetitive discharges in electromyography (EMG). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Detection and quantification of post-translational modifications in non-invasive samples : Phosphoproteins as biomarkers and a market analysis of protein quantification technologies

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :Sammi Baudin; Hillevi Fjellström; Aron Kraft; Erica Lamberg; Måns Rosenbaum; Hanna Sjöstrand; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Phorphorylation; Proteomics; Biomarkers; Phosphoproteins; PTM; Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; ALS; Alzheimer s disease; Parkinson s disease; Cancer; xMAP; SIMOA; NULISA; PEA; ELISA; Mass spectrometry; SomaScan;

    Sammanfattning : Post-translational modifications (PTMs) of proteins can be a sign and/or cause of disease. These modified proteins have the potential to be used as biomarkers for diagnostic purposes. However, research in the field is limited. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Profiling the Blood Proteome in Autoimmune Disease Using Proximity Extension Assay

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Proteinvetenskap

    Författare :Julia Asp; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Plasma proteomics; proximity extension assay; autoimmune disease; differential expression; machine learning; biomarkers; Plasma proteomik; proximity extension assay; autoimmuna sjukdomar; differentiellt proteinuttryck; maskininlärning; biomarkörer;

    Sammanfattning : Autoimmuna sjukdomar är en samling komplexa, kroniska, inflammatoriska sjukdomstillstånd som kännetecknas av dysreglering av immunsystemet, vilket resulterar i inflammation och skada av vävnader, celler och organ. Dessa sjukdomar har en betydande inverkan på individens livskvalitet och bidrar ofta till ökad dödsrisk där komorbiditeter föreligger. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Evaluating targeted combination therapies in EGFR wild-type non-small-cell lung cancer using mass spectrometry-based proteomics

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för immunteknologi

    Författare :Johan Thorsson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Biology and Life Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Survival for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients has been significantly improved by epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in patients with EGFR mutations. However, certain subpopulations of NSCLC patients with EGFR wild-type (wt) status have been shown to also respond to EGFR-TKIs. LÄS MER
