1. If Trees Could Talk - Dendrochemistry, a Promising Method for Understanding Pollution History
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Heavy metal pollution presents a significant environmental challenge in the Anthropocene era, and understanding pollution history is crucial to address historical pollution and implementing effective mitigation measures. This study stands among a few comprehensive dendrochemical investigations that utilized an extensive dataset and energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) technique to reconstruct the contamination history of As, Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn, with a focus on Cu. 2. Radar and sea clutter simulation with Unity 3D game engine
M1-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Programvara och systemSammanfattning : Game engines are well known for their use in the gaming industry but are starting to have an impact in other areas as well. Architecture, automotive, and the defence industry are today using these engines to visualise and, to some extent, test their products. LÄS MER
3. Fitting a photospheric prompt emission model to GRB data: The Kompaneets RMS approximation (KRA)
Master-uppsats, KTH/FysikSammanfattning : Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are some of the most energetic events in the universe. Shocks occurring below the photosphere are likely radiation mediated shocks (RMSs) and are suspected to shape the spectra. Due to computational costs of simulating RMSs, models had not been fitted to data and a faster model was needed. LÄS MER
4. Vem sköt på Bomarsund i augusti 1854? : pXRF-analys av blykulor och dess anslag kopplade till rörelser i landskapet under slaget om Bomarsund 1854
Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för arkeologi och antikens kulturSammanfattning : The Battle of Bomarsund was fought by three nations, all of which left behind lead residues at the site. These residues consist of both lead bullets from rifles, as well as impact marks from bullets fired at the fort. LÄS MER
5. Elemental variability in tree-rings as indicator for climate change : a case study on beech and oak trees at the Laacher See, Germany
Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografiSammanfattning : The aim of this study was to contribute to the comprehension of the connection of element uptake in trees at the Laacher See in Germany and climatic parameters on different time scales. Understanding the relationship of certain elements in trees and temperature might enable the assignment of extraordinary high peaks in the elemental concentration, which cannot be explained by temperature, to another process as CO2 degassing of the mofettes, which are relics of the volcanic past of the lake.
