  1. 1. The effects of the Venezuelan diaspora on Peru’s labour market: Evidence from the enaction of a Temporary Stay Permit to Venezuelan migrants

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Ekonomisk-historiska institutionen

    Författare :Pol Barbé Sanromà; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Refugees; forced displacement; migration; labor market; informal economy; Global South; education; Venezuela; Peru; Difference-in-Differences estimation.; Social Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : In January 2017, amidst the ongoing social strife in Venezuela, the Peruvian government enacted a working permit “Permiso Temporal de Permanencia” endowing Venezuelan migrants with the right to work and with access to health and education services. Given the spatial concentration of Venezuelan migrants in Peru and the clear temporal cut I unfold a difference-in-differences methodology to exploit the differences in the labor market before and after the policy was introduced at the individual level. 2. 2. Streets | Facades | Rooftops : Motifs of Duality in Lahore and Stockholm

    Magister-uppsats, KTH/Urbana och regionala studier

    Författare :Shayan Firoz Khilji; Zehra Ahsan Chughtai; [2020]

    Sammanfattning : Old Lahore holds an ephemeral magic in its experiences, lying in the center of not only the city, but also a key component to all religious, spiritual and everyday activities, which expand beyond the horizontal planes. The vibrance of the old city threads itself into the dense urban fabric through its traditional jharokas (balconies) and intricately woven rooftops, these tendrils extend out to the modernized environment from which its identity is unique and unparalleled. 3. 3. An evaluation of deterministic prediction of ocean waves using pressure data to assist a Wave Energy Converter

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Författare :Niclas Bassili; Douglas Eriksson; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Deterministic wave prediction; Pressure sensor; Weakly dispersive reconstruction method; Time to spatial data assimilation; High-order spectral method; Determinisk vågförutsägelse; Trycksensor; Weakly dispersive reconstruction method; Time to spatial data assimilation; High-order spectral method;

    Sammanfattning : Currently, existing devices for extracting electrical power from ocean waves all suffer from problems with low efficiency due to a lack of information about the incoming waves in advance. The complex dynamic nonlinear characteristics of the ocean make the prediction of these incoming waves a great challenge. LÄS MER

  4. 4. "We Are the Land and the Land Is Us" - Analyzing the Construction of Sami National Identity in Sami Political Discourse on Land and Natural Resources

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Europastudier

    Författare :Melodie Viallon; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Sami people; Nordic countries; identity politics; nationalism; post-colonialism; critical discourse analysis; European studies; Social Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The collective fight for self-determination among indigenous peoples around the world has made headlines over the past few years. The exploitation of indigenous territories by settler-states has revived nationalist feelings among the groups, including the Sami, whose territories spread across four states. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Effects of diet quality and quantity on resource use, growth and fatty-acid composition of a benthic generalist consumer.

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Adrian Grieve; [2017]
    Nyckelord :Food quality; allochthonous; autochthonous; consumer diet; somatic growth; fatty acids; stable isotopes.;

    Sammanfattning : Variation in quality and quantity of food resources can affect consumer productivity responses throughout the food chain, particularly the efficiency at which basal resources are converted to consumer biomass. I performed a manipulative feeding experiment to investigate the somatic growth and fatty acid incorporation in the benthic generalist isopod Asellus aquaticus, in response to differing ratios of autochthonous (high quality algae) to allochthonous (low quality leaf litter) foods.
