  1. 1. Evaluating drought impacts on ecosystem water use efficiency of three different boreal forest sites

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Författare :Tim Schacherl; [2021]
    Nyckelord :flux data; carbon uptake; water deficit; Sweden; drought resistance; nitrogen; Eddy covariance;

    Sammanfattning : European boreal forests are the biomes most affected by climate change. For example, extreme weather events such as droughts are expected to become more frequent and severe. Especially in the summer months, droughts can drastically impact the carbon and water exchanges of boreal forests. LÄS MER

  2. 2. A remote-sensing approach to studying drought resistance in Swedish old-growth and production forests

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Julika Wolf; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography and Ecosystem Analysis; drought impacts; old-growth forests; forest management; remote sensing; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Boreal forest ecosystems are predicted to experience hotter and drier summers due to climate change, leading to more frequently reduced soil water availability and an increased risk of droughts, as was already the case in Northern Europe during the severe summer drought of 2018. Prolonged water stress in forest ecosystems can lead to impacts ranging from reduced photosynthesis to forest dieback. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Observed hydro-climatic trends and local perceptions of water availability: a mixed-methods study in Marsyandi river basin, Nepal

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Hanna Ekström; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Physical Geography; Ecosystem Analysis; ETCCDI; climate indices; RHESSys; Himalaya; socio-hydrology; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : In the central Himalayas, water dynamics are expected to change due to multiple factors like climate change, hydro power development and shifting land use practices. This thesis looks at possible changes in water dynamics in Marsyandi river basin, Nepal, as well as causes to those changes and how they are perceived locally. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Evaluation of water stress mapping methods in vineyards using airborne thermal imaging

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Alon Zuta; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Geography; Geographical information systems; GIS; Remote sensing; Cover crop; Thermal imaging; Spatial variability; vineyards; interpolation; water stress index; CWSI; Ig; stem water potential; UAV; Rheingau; Interpolation.; Agriculture and Food Sciences; Biology and Life Sciences; Technology and Engineering; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : With low cost and high efficiency, use of airborne infrared thermography imaging from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has become a widely used technique to measure plant water stress. With that, the use of UAV mounted thermal camera as a precision agriculture technique to map crop water stress is not trivial and its success is depended on variety of factors which are still needed to be studied and understood. 5. 5. Global Water Stress Indices: An example of their industrial usage

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Författare :Anna Wästerström; [2016]
    Nyckelord :water stress indices; global water tools; business water risk; CSR; NGOs; environmental models; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Water stress assessments on basin level of 96 SCA sites and global water issues affecting industry are presented. Four tools are evaluated with the aim to find indices that measure water stress, i.e. lack of water of good enough quality for humans and the ecosystem. LÄS MER
