Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study was to investigated care-giving staff within the psychiatric sector and determine if there is any relationship between attachment style, symptom attribution, coping strategies, perceived stress and health. A further purpose of the study was to determine if social support predict perceived stress and health. Participants were 79 nursing staff working in a psychiatric hospital in the south of Sweden. Results from a questionnaire showed no significant correlation between attachmentstyle and symptomattribution. The results showed significant negative correlations between secure attachmentstyle and health and between dismissing attachmentstyle and social support. The result also showed negative correlations between fearful attachmentstyle and the variables emotion-focused coping, problem-focused coping and social support. Fearful attachment style also showed positive correlation with stress. Further research were discussed.
