I drömfabriken. Om hur produktionen av konst vid ett australiensiskt art center påverkas av kommersiella intressen.

Detta är en Master-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialantropologi

Sammanfattning: This Masters thesis in social anthropology describe and explore how commercial interests have affected the production of art at an aboriginal art centre in the heart of Australia. The study is based on ethnographic fieldwork during six weeks in the end of 2014. In Western art theory, there is a sharp division between art produced with commercial interests versus a presumable more authentic art derived based on individual artistic and spiritual intention. This distinction is much more acute in the aboriginal context because they paint their ancestral-dreaming story, but they are also paid every day for their artistic works. In an attempt to overcome this struggle between art as commercial versus art as spiritual, this thesis will use inspiration as a key concept. In trying to understand the role of inspiration in artistic production, we can gain a new understanding of artistic production in a specific cultural context.
