"Buzz-words" i fredsbyggnad: En diskursanalys av communityteatern The Playhouse i Nordirland

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

Sammanfattning: The discourse around peace building has changed from a state centric perspective to an increased inclusion of local perspectives. This thesis assesses the order of discourse of the community theatre The Playhouse in Northern Ireland, as it shows itself on The Playhouses website. It draws out the order of discourse based on three perspectives on peace building, and then tries to understand the order of discourse from The Playhouse’s material pre-conditions, as well as the liberal peace building discourse. The three perspectives are John Paul Lederachs "elicitive" and "prescriptive" models for training of peace builders, as well as his "moral imagination". The method used is the Critical Discourse Analysis of Norman Fairclough. This thesis finds that the order of discourse of The Playhouse is mainly a mix of "prescriptive" and "moral imagination". Through the lenses of the material pre-condition of finance, as well as the liberal peace building discourse, the order of discourse of The Playhouse is in large parts one of self-promotion. It also finds it to be reflective of larger struggles between discourses in peace building.
