Sammanfattning: In this qualitative study the authors explores, by studying several quality-development models what quality in leadership is. The models are: Total Quality Management; SIQ’s model for customer-oriented organizational development; the EFQM excellence model; the ISO 9000:2000 standard; and Six Sigma. These models will be compared from Deming’s list for upper management; the Situational Leadership Theory; and the Contingency Theory. The practical use of these models will also be examined though case studies at Agria, Philips, General Electric and TeliaSonera. The authors also examine whether leaders freedom of action will be limited. The study concludes that companies should examine what type of leadership they need before choosing a model since several of the models encourages a certain kind of leadership. The results is that quality in leadership will be achieved by leaders that recognize their co-workers potential by creating involvement and participation, effectively reaches the organizations long term goals, are role models and with commitment drives progress. This also includes a plain communication, ethics and morals, and an ability to adjust. The authors’ want to call this QiL, Quality in Leadership.
