Meningsskapande på lokal nivå - Det förebyggande arbetet mot våldsbejakande extremism ur ett PR-perspektiv

Sammanfattning: Sensemaking within communications theory is underestimated in its ability to explain complex nowadays societies. This master thesis examines the internal organisation of the preventive work against violent extremism at local level in Sweden. Through a case study of interviews and textual analysis the local preventive work is analysed through sensemaking processes that internally construct the foundation and premises of the work against violent extremism with focus on how messaging and communication has effect on the organisation itself and target groups. The preventive work being advocated by the national level is an example of an idea production that has direct effect on how the local level make sense of the preventive work locally. Conflicting views coloured by either security policy or social work construe a power/knowledge dynamics that challenge the organising of the preventive work, both practically and symbolically, and how it is understood locally.
