Sammanfattning: There are a number of reasons to form a nature reserve - to preserve and promote biodiversity and to assure areas for outdoor life are two of them. To be able to maintain these values, it is important that an adequate management plan is established for the area in question. I have examined two nature reserves in the county of Lund, Sweden – Fågelsångsdalen and Linnebjer. Both of these reserves contain different kinds of habitats and therefore harbour a vast variety of species. The reserves are, since 2004, also Natura 2000-areas. By comparing the areas’ current status with the objectives of their respective management plans, I could get an understanding of how well these areas and their values are maintained. I have also studied the management plans themselves, written in 1993 and 1980 respectively, to see if anything needs to be changed or added. Furthermore I have looked into the network of the agencies - and other parties - responsible for the maintanance of nature reserves to get a better understanding of their work. Based on my observations of the areas, 18.5% of Fågelsångsdalen’s total area meets all the objectives in the management plan. The corresponding number for Linnebjer is 41.3%. Also based on my observations in field; 4 things ought to be changed and/or added in the management plan for Fågelsångsdalen, in favor of the goals for the area. The corresponding number for Linnebjer is 2. Since neither Fågelsångsdalen or Linnebjer meets all the objectives in their management plans, some values may eventually be lost if no appropriate action is taken. However, I find that the management plans themselves, for both Fågelsångsdalen and Linnebjer, on the whole are good.
