Sammanfattning: The purpose of this essay has been to explore the contribution of pupil assistant to children with need of special support at school. My questions were: - When does the principal of the school consider that special needs exist? - What particularly needs requires getting the support of a pupil assistant? · How is the organisation structured and which are the purposes with the support? - Which methods did the pupil assistant use? - Which competence did the pupil assistant have? - How does the pupil assistant co-operate with the child's network? I have used both primary- and secondary source data in my study. I used a qualitative method of investigation because I wanted to understand the interviewee's aspect and I have also studied literature, which I found relevant to my purpose. The result of my study showed that despite certain negative facts did all the interviewed pupil assistant claim that the support were a qualified and good form of support to children with need of special support at school. Another result of the study was the fact that the concept of children with need of special support is relative and difficult to define.
