Sammanfattning: The purpose of this essay is to discuss the status of exclusive Mycenaean woolen textiles. The focus will be on the international, long-distance trade sphere in the eastern Mediterranean during the Late Helladic III-period. The essay aspires to reach conclusions regarding the Mycenaean palaces' attitude to textile production as a socio-economic institution in the Mycenaean society based on evidence drawn mostly from Linear B and contemporary literary sources from the eastern Mediterranean.
