Sammanfattning: The purpose of this text is to show how social class is (re)produced and created in the short stories”Draksådd” by Maria Sandel and Ivar Lo Johanssons ”Nya tänder” from Statarna I and to point out ways that the short stories may be useful from an Educational Perspective. Maria Sandel was the first (recognized) female author to write in the genre of Working-Class Literature in Sweden and Ivar Lo-Johansson is a recognized authorship who is most famous for his novels portraying Statarna. The analysis focuses on how the teeth motif is portrayed in the short stories. My analysis proves how the teeth motif is important in portraying the construction of class. In their works this text will account for a new insight into the motif and how teeth, or lack of teeth plays an important part in the identity as Working Class. Educational research that involves Swedish Working Class Literature in high school is unusal. Therefore this thesis gives important new knowledge into ways that it may be productive. Using the analysis as a base for a reflexion of how the short stories could be used in the classroom and shows that the students ability to apply an intention , meta-cognitive and subject oriented reading is important for the readers reception of the text.
