Tätortsnära naturvård - Förslag på naturvårdsåtgärder i Kronoskogen

Sammanfattning: Loss of biodiversity is an important environmental problem. Many species are threatened due to loss of habitats and fragmentation. Furthermore, loss of biodiversity affects the forests ability to provide ecosystem services such as water regulation. Most people live in urban areas and therefore urban forests are important for recreation and to reduce stress among the citizens, but the forests are also important for the biodiversity. To ensure that urban forests can deliver ecosystem services in the future, well planned nature conservation actions are needed. Kronoskogen in Ängelholm is a near urban forest and the aim of this study is to investigate how different nature conservation actions could improve the biodiversity in Kronoskogen without restricting the outdoor life. Three different nature conservation actions has been evaluated, sand dune restoration, forest grazing and creation of dead wood. These actions can be implemented in Kronoskogen to increase the biodiversity and at the same time maintain recreational values. Sand dune restoration and forest grazing require a significant effort while dead wood is easier to establish. After implementation, all these actions will require long time management to receive positive effects, but overall they will increase the variation and resistance in Kronoskogen. Restoration of sand dunes is the most suitable method to increase variation in short time in Kronoskogen. Forest grazing will take a long time before the desired structures are obtained. Dead wood is suitable because there is a lack of dead wood in Kronoskogen, but similarly to forest grazing takes a long time before the right structures appear. Regardless of what method, the most important is to get more variation in the forest to benefit both biodiversity and ecosystem services.
