"Grejen är att det är roligt" : En jämförande studie av dagstidningars och e-sporttidningars skildring av e-sport.

Sammanfattning: The aim of this study was to elucidate the manifested differences in printed daily newspapers and online e-sport papers. In addition we explored the different priorities of news selection in the two types of newspapers. The method we conducted in this study was quantitative content analysis and our material consisted of 150 articles from each group of papers, for a total of 300 articles. Our results were analyzed using framing theory, agenda setting theory and commercialization. Our findings included a heavy emphasis on social issues from the daily newspapers and an equally heavy emphasis on the sporting side of esport from the esport papers. Additionally we could state that e-sport papers thoroughly exercised the usage of pictures in their articles, but interviews were rare. Before this study the scientific area of e-sports journalism was completely unexplored. This inspired us to become the pioneers of the field. We hope to open up this field for further scientific research.
