Byggnadsdokumentation i 3D. Structure from motion som dokumentationsverktyg för hantverkare

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för kulturvård

Sammanfattning: The aim of this study is to test and evaluate “structure from motion (SfM)” and the software Agisoft Photo Scan in particular, as a tool for empowering conservation craftspeople to document the built heritage. The study aims to answer questions such as; how is a model created in Agisoft photoscan? What properties does 3D documentation created with SfM have in comparison to standard 2D documentation techniques? Is it practical to document a whole building with SfM? To answer these questions two case studies were conducted. The archeological material from Hemse stave church was documented piece by piece and a log built soldier barn was scanned as a whole. The process in addition to the resulting documentation was compared with 2D documentation methods and preexisting 2D documentation. The findings of this study indicate that SfM indeed has the ability to in a time efficient way produce documentation of high quality. As such it could be a valuable tool for craftspeople to contribute in documenting the tangible cultural heritage with which they are constantly interacting.
