The data collection methods used in this study are participatory observations conducted during a music activity, as well as semi-structured interviews with caregivers. The analysis has been conducted based on a phenomenographic analysis model and has resulted in three descriptive categories:functional ability, emotions and learning together with associated subcategories. The result shows that music can improve old people´s memory, mobility and affect their mood. Music in elderly care can also increase the well-being and quality of life of elderly people, as well as contribute to the learning of staff that can increase the quality of care for the elderly.
