"Det är samma frågeställningar som tidigare, fast på internet!" : Om kuratorer på ungdoms- och STI-mottagningars förhållningssätt till ungdomars lärande om sexualitet på internet

Sammanfattning: The use of internet for sexual activities among adolescents has not always been well received by society, due to the risks that it is associated with. The following thesis examines the attitudes and approaches of counselors at youth clinics and STI-clinics, when encountering adolescent’s questions pertaining to sexuality on the internet. Data was collected through a qualitative survey using semi-structured interviews. Counselors from different regions in Sweden were approached whereof 3 from STI-clinics and 7 from youth-clinics chose to participate. A social constructive theory was used to analyze the result. The results of this study showed that counselors experience the internet as an implement for adolescents when learning about sexuality. It can provide a sense of not being alone by allowing them to get in contact with like-minded and share experiences. Internet can further function as a gateway to reach out to groups of clients that would not come to a physical meeting. Adolescents exploring their sexuality on the internet has resulted in a renewed professional approach, wherein a heavier emphasis than before is laid upon: (A) inquiring about internet-usage among their adolescent clients, (B) supporting them without condeming, (C) examining the prior knowledge of the clients in the meeting. Well-known social problems are taking place in new forms of expression over the internet, thus it’s crucial for professionals and adults to understand this development.
