Slaget om pornografin - en analys av diskurser om pornografi i svenska dagstidningar mellan 2013-2017

Detta är en Master-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Sociologi

Sammanfattning: The aim of the study is to examine discourse on pornography in Swedish news media. The methodological point of departure is Critical Discourse Analysis, as presented by Fairclough. The empirical material consists of 69 articles, editorials and chronicles publicized in Swedish news media between July 2013 and March 2017. The primary theoretical point of departure of the study is Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis. Moreover, McCombs and Shaw (1972), Jackson (1999), Rubin (1984), Winther Jörgensen (2003) and Long (2012) inform the study. The result shows that there are crucial discursive struggles in the construction of pornography. These struggles stand between the description of pornography as a private matter and the de-scription porn as a political matter, the description of the pornographic actor as a victim or an agent and lastly between the description of pornography as dangerous to the consumers sexu-ality or not. Further the results show that rhetorical strategies are frequently used to undermine the opponent’s arguments and to promote one’s own. The rhetorical strategies that has been identified are the worst example, modalities, befuddlement, victimization, subordination, scien-tification, the moralizing opponent and naturalization. Further result shows that there are sim-ilarities between the descriptions of pornography found in the empirical material and radical feminist and liberal descriptions of pornography. Lastly the result shows that two dominant discourses on pornography can be identified in the empirical material; a sexnegative discourse and a liberal discourse.
