”Stora frågor, liten kommun, lite pengar, men viktigt.” – En undersökning av kulturstöd och bidrag med fokus på projektbidrag i Lunds kommun 2008-2012

Sammanfattning: This bachelor thesis studies the process of the culture and arts economic support system in the municipality of Lund. It aims to define problems concerning the current support system, which in the present situation appears in form of a stagnant cultural eco system. To do this participant observation have been used as a method and interviews and communications analysis as complementary methods. The thesis is placed in a theoretical foundation based on the economy of culture and arts, Bourdieus theories concerning fields and theories of communication. The information from the applications for project funding in Lund between 2008 and 2012 was compiled and reviewed as quantitative data. A complementary interview with one of the employees in the municipality of Lund that works with preparing applications for decisions has been done. Also four questionnaire studies with applicants have been made. Based on the collected data it could be concluded that the main problem with the present support and funding system is not communication related issues. The main issue is that the system has too narrow criteria, causing some of the applicants getting excluded in the process.
