Är musik konst? - En undersökning av fem ljudskapande människors syn på sitt eget och andras skapande

Sammanfattning: Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att undersöka och synliggöra några olika sätt att se på musik som konst (eller icke-konst). Som metod har jag valt att göra kvalitativa intervjuer med fem personer som, på olika sätt och inom olika genrer, skapar musik eller ljudkonst. I intervjuerna har jag försökt ringa in de olika personernas syn på konstbegreppet, på musik i förhållande till detta begrepp samt på deras eget skapande. Resultaten visar på fem individuella synsätt och personliga definitioner av konst. Vilka intervjupersoner som delar varandras synsätt varierar mellan de olika frågeområdena och några generaliserbara slutsatser går inte att dra, vilket inte heller har varit målet med undersökningen. Det faktum att ingen av intervjupersonerna har velat göra anspråk på att företräda någon allmängiltig definition, utan istället är medvetet subjektiva, skulle kunna vara ett argument för ett relativt konstbegrepp. I så fall är också svaret på frågan ?Är musik konst?? relativt. Musiken som en högre form av kommunikation passar in i detta synsätt, men är samtidigt per definition svår att diskutera. Title: Is music art? - An investigation of five sound creating people's views on their own and others? creating The aim of this thesis is to examine and display some different ways of viewing music as art (or non-art). As method, I have chosen to make qualitative interviews with five persons who, in various ways and within different genres, create music or sound art. In the interviews, I have tried to encircle these people's views on the concept of art, on music in relation to this concept and on their own creative work. The results show five individual approaches to and private definitions of art. Which of the persons who share views, varies between the different question areas and generalization does not seem possible, nor has it been the goal of the inquiry. The fact that none of the persons has claimed to represent any general definition, but that they instead view their opinions as subjective, could be an argument for a relative art concept. In that case, the answer to the question ?Is music art?? is also relative. Music as a higher form of communication than language harmonises well with this approach, but it is at the same time obviously difficult to discuss using words.
