Sammanfattning: The so-called great emigration to America is a subject which has been of interest to historians and researchers during decades. There is an immense amount of studies and research done surrounding the subject and of why people emigrated during the current time. However, research done concerning the great emigration to America is contrasted by what have been research regarding the homecomers of emigration. This is still the case even though research has shown a large portion of the emigrants actually returned to their land of origin. In this specific case, homecoming Swedes from America. The study investigates and enlightens this relatively uninvestigated area by researching homecoming Swedes to Vänersborg from America between year 1900-1910. The paper aims to investigate how many people who returned, which the individuals were also if the homecomers may have effect their local community by their return.
