Sammanfattning: This project will analyze the current situation for fiber routing. It will research how well planned excavations on the roads and their restorations are today. The project will also study how often road reinforcements and fiber routing are applied simultaneously and how experts perceive the situation. The project is carried out in the municipality of Svalöv who are currently building a fiber network to offer fiber to every household in the urban areas. A target is set by the Swedish government to reach 90 % of the population with an internet speed of 100 Mbps or higher before the year 2020. This target would require investments of 40 billion SEK to complete. An investigation is necessary on possible approaches to coordinate the installation of fiber and measures to reinforce the current road structure because of the high cost demands of installing fiber. These subjects lay the foundation for this report, which is aiming to investigate whether there are opportunities to coordinate the laying of fiber and reinforcements on the rest of the road. The report therefore contains a literature review, damage mapping, a market survey and a general study of the subject. The report will also specifically look at what roads have the possibility to coordinate fiber installation with road reinforcements in the municipality of Svalöv. With a literature study examining partly the basic elements in different methods of installing optical fiber used to transport data. These include channeling, airborne cables, burying cables, drilling and milling through the street. All of these methods are described in detail and examples of applications are given. The report also discusses various ownership alternatives for fiber infrastructure and the conditions they carry. The literature review examines the various measures there are in reinforcing the road or street and sample images are given for all of these. A damage mapping is performed during the research. Kågeröd and Röstånga were chosen to be mapped. It also includes various examples of damage found and also how the damage will later be evaluated in the study. Examples of damage are taken from the book Bära eller Brista. A total of 41 streets were visited during the mapping of which 12 were already restored to a condition where they no longer need new reinforcements. 11 of the remaining 29 visited roads were directly appropriate to coordinate a reinforcement with the fiber routing. The remaining 18 requires further investigation before an action is determined. Every road is described in detail and images visualizing the existing damage to the road itself are provided.
