Elcykel - framtidens transportmedel? : Att arbetspendla och använda elcykel som löneförmån

Sammanfattning: Climate change is one of the biggest challenges in today’s society. The way we use transportation plays a big roll in decreasing emissions, and achieving a healthier society. Commuting is a significant share of people’s use of transport, therefore the employer should play an important part in changing the way people commute to work. This research has studied how employers affect the way their employees commute to work and with what mode of transport they use. This study investigates the outcome of a project that is carried out within Uppsala municipality and towards its employees, regarding electric bicycles as a salary benefit. The methodology consists of a survey that was sent out to 260 employees at Uppsala municipality who accepted the offer of electric bicycle as a salary benefit, three interviews were also carried out. The findings show that employees at Uppsala municipality changed their mode of transport from car to electric bicycle to the greatest extent. Furthermore, the findings show that geographical accessibility is closely related to employees’ choice in whether they choose to commute with electric bicycle or not. The electric vehicle premium introduced by the state, implies incentives for the municipal council to invest more in the field of cycling. The increased speed of the electric bicycles poses challenges for both society and its inhabitants.
