Logistiska utmaningar : Med avseende på radioaktivitet i anläggningar för avfallsförbränning

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Högskolan i Jönköping/JTH, Maskinteknik

Sammanfattning: The consultancy company Rejlers has been assigned by E.ON Värme in Norrköping to introduce detection of radioactivity on arriving waste. This is done by installing a detector that tracks radiation in the load of a truck. The detection is going to be made when the truck enters the facility and will set of an alarm if radioactive material is discovered in the waste. If there are no radioactive material found in the waste, it is clear to be handled as normal. However, what the staff is supposed to do when there is radiation in the load is difficult to know, as there are no clear guidelines about it. Therefore, this bachelor thesis been carried out by a student at Jönköping School of Engineering. The purpose of the thesis it to provide suggestions for a logistic management, regarding legal requirements, from detection of radiation to final management. Three questions were formulated to fulfill the purpose of the thesis. The first question is to identify and analyze E.ON’s current waste logistics. The second question answers what legal requirements and recommendations there are available for these kinds of facilities. The last question provides information how other companies handle their logistics of radioactive material. The study has a qualitative focus based on a case study, where the data been collected primarily through interviews with other companies and the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority. In total has three companies been interviewed where they described how their logistics of radioactive waste are handled. To get information about what laws and recommendations E.ON must apply, a person was interviewed from the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority. The gathered information from this case study was analyzed together with the literature and documentation from the theoretical framework. A suggestion of a theoretical logistic management could then be made based on the analysis. The suggestion is presented in the form of a flowchart together with a description. If a radioactive material is detected, this flowchart should be a used as a help to handle the material.
