How can Lean tools such as, elimination of 7+1 wastes and work with 5S contribute to improvements? Results from literature studies show a coherence that application of Lean tools is something that companies benefits from in their work with improvements. The result also shows a consensus when it comes to companies needing to see Lean as an overall system and a philosophy, not just as a set of effective tools. Results from literature studies also show that there is a lack of awareness about wasted improvements (the ninth waste). Key words: Lean, elimination of waste, 5S, improvements in vain, Kanban, standardised work
