Effekten av Imagery rescripting vid social ångest hos ungdomar

Sammanfattning: The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of imagery rescripting in clients aged 13-17 with social anxiety disorder. Research has shown that imagery rescripting, as an intervention has a major impact on emotions and as a primary treatment for example, PTSD has proven very promising. In two studies, one exploratory and the other a pilot study, the authors described the procedure of imagery rescripting and concluded after a preliminary examination that the method can be useful in treating the unpleasant early memory linked to negative selfimages in the treatment of social anxiety disorder. This study was carried out as a onesession treatment of 18 participants meeting diagnostic criteria for social anxiety disorder according to DSMIV, which according to chance was allocated to the treatment group and the control group. The results showed that imagery rescripting has a significantly reducing effect on anxiety concerning early negative childhood memories. Also the effects were not immediate, but at the time for the next assessment seven days later, the difference was significant. One conclusion of the study is that imagery rescripting seems less effective for adolescents than for adults.
