Wonder Woman: Den moderna grekiska hjälten : En analysstudie av Wonder Woman serietidningar med inriktning på mytologin

Sammanfattning: This paper is analysis on a few selected Wonder Woman comics from each decade since her creation. It is about how  greek mythology is presented in the comics, how the politics and events of the world during the decades affected the comics and how she as a character is affected and how she is challenged. To get the answer I have analysed twelve selected comics from each decade, from 1940-10. I read and analysed the stories and pictures to get the answers. During the studies and analysis i found out that the view on the myths were based on the times. In the beginning the gods were portrayed more Christian-like. They were immortal entities that were more as guides to Wonder Woman than actual gods that had flaws and humanity to them like they were in the myths. That would not come until the late 1980s. But they were still portrayed as higher beings until the 1910s. That’s when they were more portrayed as flawed humans with extraordinary powers who made themselves into gods. The politics in the 1940s was the same for almost every superhero comic. They became world war two propaganda and Wonder Woman was no exception. The politcs after that was not as apparent and obvious but they were heavily influenced by the present and what happend in the world. Wonder Woman as a character was unchanged until the 1980s when they started giving her more depth and allowed her to evolve. This evolution continued and is still ongoing. The comics have changed radically from the 1940s. It has become more of a story of a modern greek hero in a fantastical superhero world.
