Betydelsen av svenska marina naturreservat - Ett förvaltningsperspektiv

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildning

Sammanfattning: Today exploitation of the sea is a common phenomenon, for example we trawl and dredge the sea, which affect the marine ecosystems and consequently marine protection is important for preserving of marine populations. At present, in Sweden there are 71 marine reserves and one marine national park to preserve the marine populations. The objective of this study was to analyse, with the perspectives from the administrators, if a marine reserve give a complete protection for the area as well as if the Swedish environmental goals will be accomplished. The thoughts and perspective of administrators for marine reserves in Sweden were collected and analysed, through a semi-quantitative survey. No one of the respondents (a number of 14) thought that the Swedish environmental goals will be achieved with current management tools and only one of them had the opinion that the environment would benefit from being a marine national park rather than having it as a marine reserve. Only two respondents were unsure whether or not there should be more marine reserves and they were also unsure if the protection was enough. A common opinion was that more resources are needed to maintain an effective management of the marine reserve and higher demands on the management to be able to fulfil the Swedish environmental goals. The two Swedish environmental goals, which were the main focus in this study, will not be achieved with current management tools. Hence, a change regarding protection of the sea is a must if Sweden is to achieve the goals for the marine environment. However, there is no significance in having a large area protected if human activity still remains unrestricted. To be able to reach a positive status in the marine environment, it is not only the protected areal that matters but also what actually is protected.
