Vi sitter i samma båt, varför ror vi inte åt samma håll? : En essä om skilda synsätt inom fritidshemmet, samt hur samsyn med interkulturellt förhållningssätt kan skapas

Sammanfattning: This study is based on a self-experienced dilemma in which I find it difficult to understand why a colleague and I do not have similar views on the professional practice of the recreation centre and its staff. A conflict ensues because I fail to understand him when he articulates everything that he perceives to be wrong with our recreation centre.     The purpose of my study is to explore how different views on learning and professional practice can be understood, how this discrepancy affects the pupils of the recreation centre and if an intercultural perspective can be used to achieve a consensus. These are also the questions posed in this study. The method I have chosen is that of scientific essay with a hermeneutic and phenomenological approach and an intercultural perspective.  I find several possible answers to these questions. Among other things I conclude that different views on learning and professional practice may be determined by which schools of thought were contemporary with one’s higher education and if one considers oneself to be a recreation centre teacher or recreation centre staff. I discover that recreation centre teachers have historically been considered to have a lower status, both by themselves and by schoolteachers. I also conclude that pupils are, in fact, affected by a discrepancy in how the staff view learning. Unfortunately, I can offer no explanation as to how they are affected. I do however conclude that it is important for staff to be aware of this.  I suggest that a consensus, from an intercultural perspective, is more easily achieved if the organisation is characterized by equality, mutual respect, reflection and self-criticism.
