Stress, återhämtning och kognitiv prestation i olika kontorstyper : Masterexamensarbete

Sammanfattning: The office layout is likely to have a central role for health and performance. The aim of this study was to investigate how perception of stress, need for recovery and cognitive performance differ between different office types. Four offices from a government agency performed a change from cell offices to activity based offices, which represents the intervention group (n=203). One office, where no change was conducted, represents the control group (n=100). A questionnaire were used to investigate perceived stress and need for recovery and a memory task was used to measure cognitive performance in different work environments. Data from both groups was collected one time before the intervention group changed the office type, and one time after the change of office type. The results indicated that perceived stress and need for recovery increased marginally in the intervention group after the change to the activity based offices. The results also indicated differences in cognitive performance between different office types. The effects of the results were so weak that more research is needed before any conclusion can be drawn. Further research should focus on further tests on which work environments are best suited for different types of tasks.
