Sammanfattning: Title: Participation or manipulation? A study of the importance of co-workership in organizations’ internal communication. Author: Josefin Levander and Kajsa Persson Advisor: Mats Heide Keywords: Internal communication, co-workers, co-workership, leadership, dialogue, participation, critical upward communication Problem: The field of internal communication lack studies of the importance of co-workers. We aim to contribute to this field of study by taking the perspective of co-workers and relate this to the Scandinavian term “co-workership”. Our study was performed at a unit under the municipality of Helsingborg and focused on the communication between employees and executive. Purpose:Describe and increase the understanding of the importance of co-workership in organizations’ internal communication, particularly the communication concerning strategic issues such as vision, goals and values Methodology: Observations of two unit meetings, qualitative interviews with ten co-workers and the executive of that unit. Conclusions: There is a clear connection between co-workership and internal communication, but also between the way organizations view communication and co-workership. For this reason we believe that the concepts exist in a mutual co-dependency.
