Nyckel till framgång? : En fallstudie om organisationskulturens betydelse i en resultatorienterad verksamhet

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Södertörns högskola/Sociologi

Sammanfattning: This qualitative study aims to examine how an organizational culture can affect the daily work at a workplace. More specifically, the aim has been to identify the specific parts of a given culture that has a direct and experienced impact on an individual's work satisfaction and performance. This has been done by interviewing four persons working on a company in the staffing industry where they continuously work towards establishing a strong and good culture. To examine the importance of this specific culture both organization- and sociological theories has been used and thus served as guidance for how a culture can be expressed, understood and to find out how it can have a significant function on a daily basis. The culture is often expressed and described as something positive, and therefore a more critical perspective has been added in this study to show situations where the culture and its effect not should be taken for granted. The result shows that the importance of a culture mainly is experienced through the social relations that exist in the workplace and how employees talk to each other and celebrate each other's successes. The culture helps employees to work dedicated and targeted due to the sense of belonging, community, pride and responsibility. The result shows that the culture can serve as support at more difficult times and that it is important that an individual identifies with the culture to be long-lasting in the organization. A culture can be expressed both through physical symbols and non-material behavior and the result therefore shows that the importance mainly lies in the non-material elements and that these have a direct impact on the daily work rather than physical symbols such as key words on the wall or a dresscode. The results also show that the company in this study is characterized by a strong and successfull culture in their daily work, which means that the results of this study show a culture of a very optimistic character.
