Beteendepåverkan och applikationsbaserad IKT för att uppmuntra hållbara resvanor: En systematisk litteraturstudie och modellutveckling

Detta är en Master-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildning

Sammanfattning: The negative effects of transport in terms of pollution, congestion and climate change has urged the need for higher shares of cleaner and more efficient modes of transport, especially in urban settings. While new technology can solve some of these issues, behavioural changes has also been identified as an important factor to achieve a modal shift from cars to walking, cycling or public transport. This study investigates the combination of ICT (information and communications technology) and behavioural change techniques to develop a model for implementing such techniques into applications for smartphones. TRavelVU is an application that collects travel behaviour data, and works as a practical example for this study. A systematic literature review concerning behavioural change and ICT in the fields of energy, health, climate and transport was conducted to gather empirical evidence which forms the foundation of the proposed model. The empirical findings were tested and verified against a theoretical framework consisted of Transtheoretical Model, Theory of Planned Behaviour, Diffusion of Innovations and Gamification. The results suggest that customization to the user, relevant and contextualised information and feedback, commitment, and a user-friendly design is important elements when influencing users to behaviour change trough applications. Behavioural Change Implementation of Applications model (BCIA), provides practitioners with a theoretical framework which could be used potentially when developing tools that aims to encourage the use of more sustainable modes of transport.
