Tid för läsning : En studie om läshastighet vid textläsning i årskurs 3

Detta är en Magister-uppsats från

Sammanfattning: Today, Swedish speech-language pathologists do not have access to a Swedish text level reading speed test that is both quick and easy to administer, affordable and standardized. The main purpose of this study was therefore to present a mean for reading speed of text among Swedish third grade students to be used in clinical assessments of reading ability. A secondary purpose was to measure if differences in reading speed could be observed between boys and girls in the third grade. The analysis was based on 98 third grade students, of whom 45 were boys and 53 were girls. The students were recruited in Uppsala and environs. The reading speed was measured in words read correctly per minute by recording the students when reading aloud. A non-standardized text, Paketet, commonly used by Swedish speech-language pathologists in reading assessments today, was used in this study to obtain a mean for reading speed. The mean value for reading speed was 90.85. The mean obtained for the girls was 97.32 and for the boys 83.22. The results showed no significant differences for gender. More research has to be done in other parts of Sweden to increase the generalizability. The results should be interpreted in line with the current clinical guidelines.
