"Big no no eller no big deal" : En kvaliativ studie om unga mäns föreställningar om att köpa sex.
Sammanfattning: This study focuses on the demand side of prostitution and sex-trafficking. The aim is to examine how young men construct the purchase of sex in the male peer group. We did six qualitative interviews with Swedish men between 20 and 30 years of age and used the theory of sexual scripts and stigma to analyse them. Through this, we could obtain that there is male peer groups where buying sex is constructed as “no big deal” and is something that reinforces the masculinity of the individual. In this group women who sell sex are constructed as "attractive girls you want to have sex with" which explains that purchasing sex is a part of a male sexual script. There is also male peer groups that construct the purchase of sex as a “big no no” and where buying sex is seen as something dirty. In these groups the issue of sex trafficking is addressed and there is a tendency to construct women who sells sex as victims, which prevents the purchase of sex to be constructed as something desirable. In addition to this we can conclude that young Swedish men are more likely to buy sex when they are visiting a country where there is a more liberal approach to purchasing sex.
