Sammanfattning: Purpose and research questions The main purpose of this study has been to examine cultural appropriation in the music industry and what effects it can give an artist from a brand perspective.   Two research questions have been formulated, based on the purpose:   In what different ways can cultural appropriation occur in the music industry? What effects can cultural appropriation have on an artist’s brand and image?   Method The essay is based on a qualitative research method and is written with a deductive approach with some inductive elements. The study's empirical data has been gathered from eight semistructured interviews. The selection of respondents has been based on their knowledge and experience in the field of research and has helped to answer the essay's purpose.
